Your Nervous System Is Not Built for This. Move Your Body Anyway.

Movement as Medicine in a World on Fire

Let’s name it:

The world right now is a lot.

In the U.S., and globally, we are navigating political violence, racial injustice, economic collapse, environmental crisis, genocidal warfare, grief on a collective scale, and deep personal unravelings.

It’s not normal.
And your body knows it.

So if you're feeling exhausted, hyper-sensitive, like you're about to snap or numb out completely:
You’re not broken.
You’re dysregulated in a dysregulated world.

The Nervous System Under Pressure

Your nervous system was built to handle acute stress, followed by resolution.
A spike … a release … a return to balance.

But today, there’s no resolution.

Instead, we’re exposed to:

  • Continuous digital news trauma

  • Generational survival stress

  • Family dysfunction and disconnection

  • Existential fear about the future

  • Constant performance demands from capitalism

You can be doing all the right things:
✓ Therapy
✓ Self-care
✓ Meditation
✓ Journaling
✓ Energetic hygiene
✓ Even nervous system practices…

But if you're not moving your body in a way that helps discharge that energy:

The system backs up.

What Happens When We Don’t Move It

Unmoved stress energy becomes:

  • Irritability

  • Exhaustion

  • Digestive issues

  • Muscle tension

  • Headaches

  • Emotional outbursts

  • Dissociation or depression

The system stays stuck in fight, flight, freeze, or fawn.
We lose connection to self.
We lose pleasure.
We lose access to the present moment.

Movement Is the Missing Link

We don’t just need stillness.
We need movement.

Not punitive, performative movement.
Not working out to fix your body.
But moving to feel yourself again.

Because movement is how the body metabolizes emotion.
Movement is how trauma completes its cycle.
Movement is how your nervous system resets.

And I say this from lived experience.

When I don’t dance, everything starts to collapse:
My mood. My parenting. My work. My relationships.
I get sharp. I get sad. I get stuck.

But when I move?
When I let my body lead me back to breath, beat, and rhythm?

I return to myself.
To joy.
To aliveness.
To resource.

What Happens When You Move:

Even gentle, joyful movement sends signals of safety to your nervous system:

  • Your breath deepens

  • Your heart rate finds rhythm

  • Endorphins release

  • Stuck emotions get to move

  • You recover access to play, presence, and possibility

Whether it’s dance, walking, stretching, pole, swimming, or rolling around on the floor to a sad song

Your body will tell you what it needs.

You just have to let it speak.

This Is the Work

Everything I offer (inside THE KEY, inside Nervous System Devotionals, inside my own spiritual practice) is rooted in this truth:

Healing isn’t stillness alone.
It’s
movement with meaning.
Movement that remembers.
Movement that reclaims.
Movement that restores.

This isn’t a productivity hack.
This is ancient.
This is ritual.
This is your right.

Final Words

In a world that wants you frozen, small, or burnt out MOVE.

Even for five minutes.
Even if you’re crying.
Even if it’s messy.
Especially if it’s messy.

Let your body be part of the healing.
Not an afterthought.
Not a problem to solve.
But a portal home.

Come move with us inside THE KEY.
Let it all shake loose. Let it all make space. Let it all come alive again.
